Cinemas and theatres

Operators of cinemas and theatres strive to deliver a fully immersive experience, where total darkness and visual comfort are key. Poorly adapted emergency lighting can compromise this objective. We offer tailored solutions that ensure optimal conditions for every audience member.

“Developed with the help of exhibition professionals, the new Vista Cinéma block considerably reduces stray light during screenings, and represents an innovation for cinemas.”

Controlled light output in dark environments

With decades of experience in low-light venues, we partnered with the French National Federation of Cinemas (FNCF) in 2019 to develop the Vista Cinéma model. Its diamond-cut optic, screen-printed pictogram, and diffused light output eliminate stray illumination to preserve complete darkness in the room.

Beyond the main performance space, we offer customisable emergency lighting for adjoining areas (lobbies, restrooms, hallways) with tailored finishes to complement each venue’s architectural identity.

Despite complex emergency lighting regulations (NF C 71-800 in France and Europe), we support venue managers in selecting fully compliant solutions that never compromise visual comfort or aesthetics, while also respecting project budgets.

In France, cinemas, theatres, and auditoriums are classified as ERP (public buildings) type L. They must meet specific emergency lighting requirements due to low ambient light levels, high occupancy, and potential obstacles to evacuation such as seating tiers, rows, and stages.

To preserve the viewing experience, our VISTA2 CINÉMA luminaires emit low-intensity light (45 lumens), just enough to remain visible for safety without causing glare. Their fine optical striations focus the light on the pictogram to eliminate spillover during shows or film projections.

As with all ERPs, emergency lighting in cinemas and theatres must ensure clear marking of escape routes. This includes staircases, side aisles, stage access, and exits, all of which must be equipped in accordance with current safety standards.

Developed in collaboration with cinema professionals, the VISTA2 CINEMA collection is specifically designed for dark environments such as cinemas, theatres, and auditoriums. Its reduced light output and discreet design ensure public safety without disrupting the ambiance or projection quality.
